Artificial Grass Mandurah — synthetic turf that survives a Peel summer

Artificial grass makes more sense in Mandurah than almost anywhere in Australia. We get two watering days a week, a three-month sprinkler ban every winter, sand that drains like a sieve and around four 35-degree days in each of January and February. Natural lawn can be done here — we lay plenty of it — but for small courtyards, shaded side strips, pool surrounds, dog runs and busy families, synthetic turf is the lower-stress option.

The difference between artificial grass that still looks new in five years and the stuff that ripples and fades is almost entirely in the base. We excavate, lay and compact a crusher-dust base, set falls for drainage, fix the edges, seam properly and sand-infill the pile so it stands up. Then we choose a turf that suits the use — soft, dense pile for play areas, shorter pile for pets, lighter colours and cooling infill for full-sun north-facing yards.
